2026 Bale Decorating Competition

RULES AND REGULATIONS
• Any not-for-profit group of four or more may enter – 4H, Church, Youth Groups, Junior
Farmers, School Class, etc. Winning cheques are made payable only to not-for-profit groups.
• There will be two classes – Junior ages 16 and under and Senior ages over 16.
• Groups must register with the Woodstock Agricultural Society before Friday August 14th, 2026.
• Registration form is below, or obtainable from the Fairground table at the Farmers Market on Saturdays from 7 am to noon after August 1st or www.woodstockfairgrounds.com
• Entries will be judged on aesthetics, construction, use of material and creativity.
• All groups entering the contest will be able to decorate their bales on Tuesday August 18th from 2 pm to 3 pm or 6 pm to 7pm.
• New this year: The Woodstock Agricultural Society will supply each participating group with three (3) rectangular bales to decorate. The size of each bale is roughly 14”–18” high, 18” – 19” wide, and 35” – 36” long. These may be stacked as desired (Weight around 40 – 75lbs)
• All bales will be Judged by opening time, Friday August 21st.
• Bales will be decorated in a clean, wholesome nature to promote the Fair or agriculture in general. Vulgar and suggestive decoration will be disqualified.
• Decorations should be weather and windproof and should not destroy bale for future use.
• PAINT MAY NOT BE APPLIED TO THE BALE
• A sign with your group name and logo is allowed and recommended and should be added after the judging has taken place.
